The Mens Clutch

The clutch is showing itself lately in most runway since the starting of the Spring/Summer 09 shows and has made appearances as well in the Fall09 shows. Will this be the next trend in men’s accessories? We think it will but the only question is how fast will the trend pick itself up and are today’s men daring enough to carry clutches? Yes the association of a clutch is closely associated with women’s wear but if you think back, men have carried clutches in the 60′s and 70′s. Go on and ask your dad, he might have a vintage clutch somewhere stashed away in the closet that you can probably fashion it again.

Also, not all clutches work. It has to depend on your outfits and your own personality. A masculine man would look silly in a shiny light colour clutch with too many details or a flamboyant guy wouldn’t match a classic italian styled dark colour business clutch, and certain guys shouldn’t even bother with clutches, stick to bags please.

Not only it’s a fashionable piece, clutches are functional. It keeps all your stuff handy and all in one place. Innit would recommend to have at least two clutches, one for day use and another for evening use for parties, events, etc…you get the drill.  Depending on your own personal style, the day clutch can be a simple envelope clutch with wristlet or even a functional business clutch to use at work. The evening clutch can be an attention grabber with patent leather in dark colours or over sized clutches that is sure to be seen a mile away.

Nevertheless men’s clutches should be simple, sophisticated and functional which suits your own personality, not some other people’s. Find a clutch that would suit your personal style and please avoid lady’s clutches. There are many men’s cluthces to choose from. Be a man.

Get Studded

13 08 2009

DSC_9052What a stud! It’s a compliment to hear that but do make sure if the other party is complimenting you personally or one of the latest sensation in style, studded fashion. Studded shoes, studded bags, studded shirts, studded trousers and even studded caps.

It seems like the stud is back in trend and those studs have been making appearances in some of the FW09 and SS10 fashion collections.

Having studs definitely makes someone stands out from the crowd but be careful of over studding, you might look like a Christmas tree.

Let’s look at some interesting pieces of studded fashion.

D&G SS10 collection features quite a number of studded materials down the runway in Milan. Accessories wise, it’s leather base with studded bags, belts and shoes which seems interesting to be worn as a single feature piece for your whole look. The accessories pieces look subtle enough as the studs blends in well with the leather base, except for the heavily studded shoes. We also see studs being incorporated with studded designed denim shirt and a casual jacket with studs all over the front giving it sparkles.

Prada FW09 look book brought us a few studded collection pieces with its apparent studded shoes. The classic Prada shoes with carefully laced crystal studs do emit intrigue and desirability. They will look great with a casual or semi formal outfit. Prada also features red studs on grey shirt, a unique grey studded trousers and a daring studded long trench coat to brighten up gloomy autumn.

MJstuddedcapMarc by Marc Jacobs Resort09 collection features a sequin studded cap in blue and khaki in its collection print. Interesting enough to get attention but yet not too loud.

We will be expecting to see more of the studs in fashion and it’s time to get at least one piece of the studded fashion in your wardrobe for the coming seasons.

Prada FW09 Look Book

6 08 2009

prada10It’s always exciting to see how each label put together a look book and Prada latest look book for FW09 didn’t disappoint as it kept its signature look. The creativity is apparent and Prada always managed to provide the fluid flow of the collection with the designs and abstracts. Somehow or another, all of the elements used seems to fit very well together without looking awkward or cluttered.

In this FW09 look book, Innit will only be concentrating on the mens collection that features a very organised casual pristine look. Styled with long trench coat, studded shoes and a big carryall bag, the distinctiveness is brought forward with the white, black and grey colours which is oh so Prada.

The smart casual collection exudes a a sophisticated, suave yet sexy look which uses mainly the signature Prada fabric in black and dark grey. The designs are clean, sharp cut with minimal details, giving it a dark sense of freshness.

The studded collection stands out for the apparent reason with studded shirt, trousers, coats and shoes. It might be too much to have all of those together but individually, they are outstanding as it is.
