When one think of Icelandic fashion, one would think of Bjork and her way out there costumes which believe it or not is sometimes a Galliano or McQueen. You would never imagine Icelanders donning something street and hip-hop ish. But amongst the quaint little shops in Reykjavik is this shop called “Dogma”. This shop produces and also stocks up on the latest streetwear. One thing unique about this store are the locally made t-shirts that makes fun of Iceland with topics that covers the recent economic crisis and funny slogans in their native Iceland. The shop also sells other cool t-shirts though some designs have been found selling on the streets of Bangkok, especially in Chatuchak market. So if you do drop by the shop, make sure you buy only the Icelandic designed t-shirts. Nevertheless, it is a bit ironic yet interesting to see such fashion in a seemingly small town like Reykjavik, Iceland. So this is where Bjork get her eccentricities from.

Yohji Yamamoto Spring 2010
26 08 2009
This year the recession has hit hard on some designers and Yohji Yamamoto was no exception. Instead of the usual runway show, the latest Spring 2010 collection was shown in a showroom presentation.
The collection featured signature Yohji Yamamoto styles – structural-like and oversized with the usual black and indigo blue colours. The collection may as well represent the current gloom and doom of the world’s economy with its simple and oversized designs. Looking at the entire collection, you’ll see a hint of depression-era style 50′s fashion mix in with a bit of grudge and punk. Simple yet has its own message across.
Perhaps the next collection for Fall will be a little bit cheery?

Raf Simons Spring/Summer 2010
29 07 2009
This Spring/Summer 2010 season, Raf Simons wants you to go high-fashion with fine tailored suits that makes every men looks refine and immaculate. And in typical Raf Simons style, he adds in leather and snake prints making it an impressively refine yet edgy collection.
Without venturing into common and boring, he experiments with such pieces such as knit top with a single-vented cloth back, or trench-coat with leather wrapped around the waist and arms. Such is the brilliance of this man; one can have numerous options and pair it up with many pieces from the collection thus making it the most wearable and fluid of his collections so far.

Comme des Garcons Homme Plus Mens Spring/Summer 2010
22 07 2009
Rei Kawabuko latest collection this season is a whirlwind of colours, prints and styles which the designer described it as “random collage”. From neon colours shoes to shirts with jacket pockets, least not forgetting the usage of Aran knits makes it even quirkier than it already is. But such is the humour of the designer. Anyone that can come up with a neatly tailored jacket only to add an erratically placed and stitched tie is either a mad person or has a creative mind. We believe it is the latter.
Different elements of men’s style clothing all combined together to make one interesting collection which one say is full of punk attitude but with a bohemian-like touch to it. You will definitely bound to make a statement even in the most of mundane situations.

DSquared Mens Spring/Summer 2010
20 07 2009

It’s back to the outdoor this season for the ever outrageous brothers. The duo managed to infuse camp chic and street edge with a bit of cheekiness (neon-coloured ponchos anyone?). Interesting combination of 80’s inspired colours from grass-green, cerulean, tomato red, orange and yellow all make up the current collection. The collection is colourful, playful and yet manages to maintain the muscular identity of the clothes thus creating an exciting balance.
This season is all about being rugged but yet trendy and sexy, totally guaranteed to make you look good while camping or while out on the streets.

Carola Euler AW09
13 07 2009

Carola Euler is back this season with crisp and clean look through her signature sculptural and bib cutaway details. Details is the key towards what Euler is showing us this season. Sharp pleats, panelled trousers, shoulder details form the minimalism of her designs but yet interesting.
The colours are well coordinated with the use of the classics – grey, black and white, injected with bright complimentary shades of yellow and blue making the whole outfit pops.
Euler manage to make the “simple yet classy” interpretation into a very interesting and desirable collection.
